To the old Celts, the oak was the sacred tree — strength, endurance, and above all continuity.
An oak outlives any one of us, the way a family outlives any one of its people. The Irish word for oak is dair — you hear it still in Derry, “oak grove,” and Kildare, “church of the oak.”
In ogham, the oldest Irish writing, names were carved up the edge of a standing stone and read from the ground up, like a tree growing — almost always to record one thing: a person, and the line they came from. That is exactly what a Sacred Grove commission does. I take the names, dates, and lineage you gather, and paint them into an original oak built to be handed down.

Four steps, from your family to your wall
Like an ogham stone, it’s read from the ground up — simple, and one step at a time.
Gather your family
Collect the names, dates, and relationships you’d like on the tree — usually through Ancestry.com or your own records. You provide the genealogy; there’s no research to figure out on my end.
You supply the dataChoose your oak
Tell me which path fits: a full custom original painted around your family, or your tree designed onto an existing Sacred Grove oak. I’ll confirm the size, the number of names, and your firm price before anything begins.

A 50% deposit confirms your commission and holds your place. It covers the initial design work; the balance is due on delivery. Deposits are simple — Venmo or PayPal @allisonmcgreefineart.

I lay out the tree and send a first proof, with up to five rounds of revisions to get every name right. Then the finished oak comes home to you — and prints of it can be ordered any time, in any size.
