Falling in Love with Inspiration.
Inspired Artwork I get lost in painting. The time on the clock shifts into a Alice-in-Wonderland reality. It morphs, dances, changes its pace, and simply flows (most of the time). I am lucky, blessed, GRATEFUL to have fallen in love with painting. I thoroughly enjoy my time with my paintbrushes and I especially enjoy when I am painting with some sort of larger purpose or human connection in mind. This week I was able to celebrate yet another babe-to-be! Coming into our world in the next few months will be a new little baby, and this giraffe mural (images below)...
Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." Degas
My life is like a puzzle. Many pieces, all connected, colorful, and important (MOSTLY :)). Some days or weeks the puzzle only has a few major players, others...well others are like this past week. I painted, taught, prepped, traveled, and somehow squeaked out a bit of small business upkeep. It was nuts. It's my life, a beautifully (sometimes messy, sometimes chaotic) artist's life. My motto quickly becomes JUST BREATHE during these days. Sounds simple enough, but it's fairly difficult. Here is a snapshot of my puzzle of a week, also known as making a living in the arts. School's...
5 reasons you're more creative than you think!
I have been reading a lot about habits, happiness, and creativity lately (or always, I LOVE these subjects)! This blog post is awesome, so I'm re-posting. I also like that though I mention "thinking outside of the box" often in my own writing and this blog does not like this "myth" at all. Happify states that creativity is just allowing for change and letting the creative juices flow when new circumstances show up (as they always do). Not jumping outside or ourselves as much as opening up a bit to the previously unknown or assumed answer. Read on and enjoy! I know I did. From...
Decision Fatigue? 10 Steps to Zennnnnn!
Decision Fatigue “A secret to happiness is letting every situation be what it is, instead of what you think it should be.” Louis-and-Champagne Have you ever felt frozen by too many decisions? As if the roads in front of you are all so incredibly full of challenge, adventure, exploration…fun but you have to choose just ONE. Or, choose one for now?? Sometimes I find myself sitting in front of paintings, my computer, and my to-do list like I am stuck in quicksand…decisions, decisions, and more decisions. I find it entertaining that, in order to fight “decision fatigue” and let the...
If something is important enough...
brute bull in a china shop goal odds patience
Wise words, and somewhat of a conundrum too. Why? Because I want to do it all, NOW. My patience could use a little growth. Inside my brain: Imagine a crowd of at least 100, waiting, somewhat unorganized, energized, excited, driven, determined...all planning to get through one single door for a free trip to Hawaii, you just have to be first. The crowd is anxious and very VERY motivated. The countdown goes off, 3...2...1...GO! Chaos. People get trampled, the door gets jammed, the door frame starts to break...and calmly on the other side is a tropical drink (with umbrella), luau music,...
